I don't understand myself sometimes. Sometimes I look at my scraps and ask myself why I moved it.
Basically it comes down to this though: Every once in a while I look at my own gallery very critically. Then I move the things I am no longer satisfied about, are low quality, don't fit my gallery or have a most disappointing amount of comments/favs/views (in other words, the public doesn't like them).
However, I don't delete anything. They all go to scraps. I cleared my entire old account in the past, and that I regret.
I am curious now, which ones really don't belong in my scraps according to you? All the ones you fav'd?
I see. I do that too, although I delete things more often. And I also deleted most of my gallery at one point (around three years ago). Most of those pictures were - simply put - shitty, so I don't regret it much
Just looking at the pictures, without taking the amount of comments/faves/views into account, I'd say that the following could be just as well in the main gallery: Venetian Mask, doel.0005, delfshaven.0002, InstasKope, doel.0009, Bridge from Below, doel.0003, veluwe.0001, Stuff and instagram.0002. However, it depends. On everything you mentioned and also how you would like your gallery to be.
I am always trying to create more unity in my gallery, but I never really succeed in my own eyes. At some point I decided to throw out (almost) anything that wasn't abstract, architecture or long exposure. However then I uploaded new ones again that didn't fit...
Last month I had such a moment of self reflection again. I want to reorganize my gallery in a completely different way, but I still don't have a clue how. I'm thinking of letting go of all the sub folders in my gallery and sorting it by year. More like a portfolio. But at the same time I want to keep some work together by specific themes or genres.
Also I would like to raise the overall quality of my gallery. And that is a most tricky business.

Interesting. In my own gallery, I strive for diversity. And it seems to me that diversity may be the natural road for you, yet... you run away from it. Why? Why unity instead of diversity? Well, I suppose it may become an issue if you have a big gallery; mine isn't that big yet. But you can always create unity in your Featured folder and gallery subfolders. Especially playing with the Featured folder is easy and you could try different configurations, say, every three months, to find the one that works best. Or you could create a special portfolio somewhere outside deviantART, with the completely new, detailed vision of how you'd want it to look like. DeviantART doesn't allow to play with the look of the gallery too much, after all. I don't know. I'm looking forward to seeing how you will organize it in the end
Haha, it is indeed tricky. Moving the "worst" pictures to Scraps helps here, I must admit. I don't know what else does (other than getting better and better, of course ).
Haha, yes it is curious that I want unity, while diversity comes almost naturally to me. I have partly accepted that already. Sometimes I see galleries with 1 style and post processing. They form one big series. I admire that. Maybe because it is something I can not. What I do want, is to eliminate the loose shots that actually fit in nowhere. Focus on fewer genres and eventually have them intertwine. Within those boundaries is still enough room for my chaotic diversity in post processing.
Getting better is the main concern of course. And that is achieved to experience and practice. Besides moving the worst, I also want to be more selective in what I upload. The danger however is being too selective, but we'll see about that.
